What does a full caravan service consist of?:

Below is a quick breakdown of what we carry out on a caravan full service. Being part of the ‘Approved Workshop Scheme’ (AWS) allows us to carry out the services required to keep your warranty intact, meaning you can rest knowing that your caravan is being serviced by a qualified engineer.

Chassis & Running Gear

01.

We check items for any damages or wear and tear such as the coupling head, Ball acting stabiliser & jockey wheel. All the items important for ensuring that your caravan can be towed safely. This of course includes other essentials like tyre age and brake wear.

Wheels are removed and the brakes are stripped, cleaned and a new one shot nut is fitted.

Gas System:

02.

All gas appliances, inclusive of fridges, ovens, hobs and heating systems, are turned on in order to check they are fully functioning.  The Flame Failure Device (FFD) operation checks are concluded and a gas tightness test is also carried out. The age, performance and security of the gas regulator and hose are all observed and recorded.

Body Work:

03.

This is a general observation that is carried out around the entire external body of the caravan. We check all doors and windows including the catches, locks and seals. One vitally important item that is carried out is a damp test. Caravans and most recreational vehicles are all prone to potential damp or water ingress. So when a caravan service is being carried out, a damp meter reading is recorded. This will all be noted on the job card for your reference.

Electrical System:

04.

Electrical appliances are checked within a caravan service. This includes all plugs, internal and external lighting, batteries, microwave, fridge, electric hob, you name it, it is sure to be checked within our caravan service. It is important to note that these aren’t checked to just make sure they work but to ensure they are safe and compliant to use. We carry out tests ensuring the RCD trips within a set time, whilst also checking the fuses are suitable for the caravan. All of these steps allow us to check that your caravan electrics are fully functioning and safe for use.

Water Systems:

05.

All water appliances, including taps, switches and seals are checked for any leaks or damage. The security of all water tanks and toilets are also observed as well as checking the toilet flush is operating correctly.

Fire & Safety:

06.

Checks to ensure that all smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are operating correctly, and other fire equipment such as fire blankets and fire extinguishers are fitted correctly, checking dates are checked and housings are not damaged. Observations are also carried out to ensure that roof hatches can open and close freely and there are no obstructions for air flow.
